Sound Recording and Engineering Course
Next course starts on the 2nd May 2011.
This is a two day (and a four day) course aimed at introducing recording studio techniques to the novice. It will include:
- Microphone placement and Recording Techniques
- MIDI Fundamentals
- Introduction to Reason
- ProTools & Plugins
- Mixing
- Mastering
A series of master class workshops in Orion Recording Studios
We are running a series of master class workshops in our studios throughout August and September.
The will be run over several afternoons (4 hour session) on the weekend and include some of the top musicians in the country:
Guitar:
Hugh Buckley – Jazz
Nigel Mooney – Jazz and Blues
Jimmy Smith – Rock, Country, Jazz etc
Keyboards:
Myles Drennan – Jazz piano
Justin Carroll – Jazz Organ
Sax:
Richie Buckley – Jazz, Rock etc

Dan Bodwell – Upright jazz bass
Drums:
Dominick Mullan – Jazz drums
Paul Cantwell – Groove drums
Dobro, Pedal Steel:
Frankie Lane – Roots, country etc

Present activity in Orion Studios
We have just bought a new digital piano with a very impressive grand piano sound and feel. The Yamaha CLP 370. A lovely instrument!
Glyder, a heavy rock band from Ballyknockin Co. Wicklow, from are putting their finishing touches to their new EP. Abhain Dubh, an Irish ballad group are recording their first albumn. Fuinneamh, a traditional Irish group are also in the studio recording their CD. Lots more projects ongoing and in the pipeline. Drop in for a visit: Orion Recording Studios.
